Places to eat

Please note that for a lot of places you will need a reservation. Also quite a few restaurants now use time slots :-(

The best place to search for restaurants is Falter, a local viennese weekly paper with a great restaurant database.

Nordbahnviertel

The area around the venue up to the hotel.

Stuwerviertel

Across Lassallestrasse from the hotel. Used to be a red light district, now mostly gentrified (though there are a few questionable establishments left).

  • Vorgartenmarkt: a small market, mostly restaurants now, but there is a farmers market on Saturday
    • Mochi Ramen Bar: appearantly the best Ramen; no reserverations, so expect a queue. Very loud on the inside, so better to sit outside
    • Chicken Karate: fried chicken, also very good, also by the Mochi people
    • Pizzaria Mercato: nice pizza!
    • There's also a fish shop selling fried fish
    • And an italien place (I haven't been there)
  • Stuwer: viennese kitchen, we have the attendees dinner there
  • Brösel: Very good, modern, sharing plates; only open in the evening, but probably already fully booked
  • Möslinger: Also viennese
  • Reinthaler: same, "cheap" lunch menu
  • Märischer Spatz: right opposite the hotel
  • Wiener Deewaan: 5 vegetarian curries per day, pay as you wish; very basic!
  • and probably a bunch more...
