Tap Water, Food Safety
======================
The tap water is very drinkable, quite nice and cleaner than bottled water. Food hygine is very strict, and all restaurants are required to have correct allergen labels.
Internet Access
===============
- Mobile data: Norway is a part of the EEA, so your EU data plan can be used. Local SIM cards can be bought at 7-11/Narvesen, but you must register your Passport with the operator to have it enabled. This can take 24 hours.
- Public Wifi: is everywhere, most cafes, trains and public places provide it (use a vpn and dnscrypt).
Sundays
=======
Everything is closed on sundays.
Paying for Things
=================
Credit cards (VISA/MC) are accepted pretty much everywhere without minimums or extra charges. Make sure you have your pin number handy, tell the cashier if you do not have a pin number on your card. Cash is rarely used.
Buying Alcohol
==============
(TLDR; buy at the duty free at OSL on arrival)
Norway has some of the highest alcohol prices in the world, and operate quite strict rules on consumption.
- Beer can be bought in supermarkets until 18:00 weekdays, and 16:00 on saturdays, not on sundays. This is strictly enforced by the POS system at the store.
- Wine and spirits can only be bought at the government run wine monopoly called Vinmonopolet.
- Bars serve drinks until 03:00.
